    Karen Wilde Announces Her Candidacy for State House of Representative, District 40 Arapahoe County, Colorado, April 9, 2008 – After being nominated by special assembly, Karen Wilde announced today her acceptance and candidacy as State House of Representative representing District 40.

    Karen said that her decision to run was driven by a deep concern to bring people together to resolve issues and build bridges. Karen has the reputation for developing effective relationships within the community and has been recognized by receiving the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award and the Native American Resource Group Member Award.

    Karen is currently employed at the University of Colorado Denver – Anschutz Medical Campus as a Senior Professional Research Assistant/Project Coordinator.

    Karen is a graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma State University and holds a Paralegal Certificate from the Community College of Aurora.

    Karen’s participation in the community includes:

    • Denver Indian Family Resource Center, Board of Directors, President
    • Governor’s Interstate Indian Council, Vice President
    • Aurora City Council appointee to the Aurora Historic Preservation commission
    • National Kidney Foundation, Board Member
    In addition, she has received the following honors:
    • American Indian Educator Award
    • Stephen B. Hart Award Colorado Historical Society
    • Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Service Award
